Groundstaff - Thank You and An Appeal
Without volunteers to look after the pitch at St James' Park, there would be no game at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
We have been fortunate over the years to have some fantastic people looking after the hallowed turf, and we still do.
One of our volunteers John English, who came in as a favour (like most of us do!) has had to sadly hang up the white line marker due to work commitments. His efforts, along with Dez Lamb, Joe Pickard and Kai Sumner have continued the excellent work previously done by Ian Hogg and the late Clive Burn.
If you would be interested in coming to help out with pitch and ground maintenance, or know of anyone that could be an ideal candidate then please get in touch. The lads currently involved would provide anyone wishing to come on board with plenty of help and advice.
All helpers are volunteers, so there is no wage. Ideal for gaining some experience, working outdoors in the fresh air, and if necessary it won't do any harm on your CV to say you've done some voluntary work.
Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for further information, or come along on a matchday and speak to the chairman or secretary.
