Murton v Alnwick Town
MURTON 2 ALNWICK  TOWN 1

Another Jekyll and Hyde performance from Alnwick away to Durham side Murton seen them yet again come away with nothing in a game they should have had wrapped up in the first half.
Alnwick could not have started any better on 5 mins Ben Keenan beat two men inside the box got to the by line and squared the ball in to the path of Tom Vickers to easily finish from six yards out.
Alnwick had a period of 20 mins where they could of comfortably scored four to five goals as they tore the back four of Murton to pieces a couple of chances by Keenan the notable ones but to be fair to the forward created most of the chances himself and on another day and a bit of luck could have had a hat trick.
The Alnwick back four were comfortable and never looked under threat in the first period as they dealt well with any threat Murton posed.
It was one nil going in to half time interval and with a slender lead the game was always going to be still in the balance.
Murton started the better in the opening exchanges and had there best spell of pressure with a couple of shots that went over the bar or wide of the post.
Alnwick had a strong claim for a penalty on 60 mins as Vickers was up ended in the box but the referee waved play on to the dismay of the Alnwick forward.
Kevin Elliot then tested the keeper from 25 yards the Murton keeper superbly saving the powerful shot pushing it wide for a corner.
On 80 mins Murton equalized the ball finding its way to the edge of the box the Murton forward had still a bit to do Brooks came out to narrow the angle but probably made the forwards job a little easier as he coolly slotted it wide of the keeper and in to the bottom corner of the net.
Alnwick pressed forward for the winner Danny Lowes out paced the Murton defence and with just the keeper to beat the defender shot wide and in to the side netting.
On 85 mins after a scramble in the Murton penalty area the ball fell to Elliot who hit a first time shot from 10 yards which was unbelievably tipped on to the post by the keeper.
Alnwick were dealt the sucker punch on 90 mins as a ball was played down the flank Neil Catlow miss timed his kick and the Murton winger squared the ball across the 6 yard box for an easy tap in which clinched the win for the home side.
Alnwick will have to take there chances in front of goal if they are to climb up the table all credit to Murton though who fought to the end for there 3 points.
