Blyth Town v Alnwick

BLYTH TOWN 3 ALNWICK 0

Alnwick were away to Benevolent Bowl finalists Blyth Town the reverse fixture earlier in the season ended in a3-3 draw.
On a bumpy pitch the home side went in to the lead on 21 mins a lack of concentration in the Alnwick defence  led to Blyth’s forward firing through a crowded area and in to the corner of the net.
Both teams created little else in the first period and the game was constantly spoiled by the officials who were determined to be centre of attention giving the strangest decisions to both teams on the day.

Things got worse for Alwick on 53 mins as Blyth doubled their tally a well worked goal let in the Blyth striker to hit a shot across Brookes and in to the corner of the net.
Alnwick had a couple of efforts after this Richard Brown turning and hitting a powerful shot from 18 yards which was tipped round the post, Ben Keenen should have had a goal back on 65 mins heading straight in to the keeper from 8 yards.
The game was summed up for Alnwick on 70 mins a forty yard free kick which Brooks came to collect in the air sailed over his head and in to the roof of the net and sealing the win for Blyth.

A game to forget for Alnwick who never got going from the first whistle Blyth deservedly won the game on the day taking the chances that were far and few between.
